Making Your Home a Haven : Week 4

This week's challenge is involving our kitchen, I don't know about you but that is the main hub in my home. You can read Karen Ehman's post today on Courtney's blog here.

Well this is our final fall challenge week already! Time surely does fly by when you are enjoying life! This week our challenge is to focus on our kitchens, bake or cook things that puts a lovely warming smell throughout our homes. By preparing meals and goodies for our family when it's not a special occasion shows our love towards our families. Invite those little kiddos or teenagers if you have some (my 2 is under 6) to get busy along side of you, hey my hubby loves to help in the kitchen too so it don't hurt to ask. Family meals is so important and we always try to make that the most important meal of the day where we all sit down and enjoy it together. Let's work on showing love, faithfulness and goodness to our families this week.

I have so enjoyed burning my fall candle, playing our soft music and our family night last week and this week I have quite a few things planned to involve my little family in the kitchen with me. My kids are always wherever I am wanting to learn, so it's easy to get them to do things with me. Baking cookies, bread or cooking is always fun with kids, even if it's messier, it's memories that can't be replaced and they will always remember it.

I hope you all have a fantastic week! How has the Fall challenge helped you this year? Any thing you would like to say? What is something you would love to have some advice or an opinion on?

Making Your Home a Haven : Week 3

I apologize for not posting last week but I do hope you were burning your fall candles and playing encouraging faith building music to make your home a peaceful place. We were so busy last week with school and visiting my hubby whose job has him traveling alot so we try to go along with him as much as possible. Check out Courtney's post for this week here.

We have established a family game night here that started when we were expecting our little girl. We realize that families that don't take time for each other usually end up in divorce court and we didn't want to be that statistic. We have set aside Friday nights to cook, eat and then play a game usually mexican dominos :) or occasionally LIFE and just enjoy each other's company. It's the togetherness without distractions (electronics) that just makes it so enjoyable.

Saturday night we were having a game night with some friends of our that is a young married couple like us when suddenly the phone rang with some bad news of their pastor who is also the husband's grandfather being rushed to the hospital with symptoms of a stroke and in that moment we prayed because we know the great physician and everything turned out ok. I said that to say this please always enjoy your family because that could've been so different. Things happen so fast and sometimes there isn't always time to call and say I love you and appreciate you.

This week take time to continue burning your fall candles and praying peace over your home, play soft encouraging music and set the tone of your home to be inviting and loving, plan a night for a game or two with family dinner. Enjoy the family God has given you because you never know when He may take them from us and bring them home with Him.

Be Blessed,

Making Your Home a Home : Week 1

I'm joining Courtney Joseph in her 5th Annual Fall Making Your Home a Haven Challenge. Every year since she has started it I have been involved and I absolutely love it. It's so inspiring to just welcome God into our homes and really focus on Him.

This week's challenge is to buy an extra large candle and light it daily. Place it somewhere that you will notice it often and pray for peace and patience in your home every time you see the flicker of the flame.

I am so excited to start this because here lately my life has been so stressful with so many things going on in just my close family that I've about went insane! Thank God that we can come to Him with all our problems and He just eases our pain and relieves the stress. Sunday night at church during worship service I just let Him have everything. Sometimes stressful things happen and there is nothing we can do to help the situation but pray and that is the best thing that we can do!

I have my pumpkin spice candle burning and it smells amazing!!! Let's be sure to speak peace and practice patience when speaking to our family this week. Keep a spirit of prayer going constantly. Involve the family in prayer and the different things you are doing.

Are you lighting your candles this week?
What scent is your favorite Fall scent?
How can I help you pray for your family?

Be Blessed,

Regina Cozad
